40 Days of Prayer
March 4, 2004

“…so that you may know Him better.”
(Eph 1:17)

During these days of prayer, we are praying that others will come to know Him through the witness of our church family. As we pray for others to know Him, we will come to know Him better!

We know God and have a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus. That transaction is established forever in heaven (see Eph. 1). Then, delighting in God, His character, His attributes, His mercy and grace, becomes one of the great privileges we have as His children.

Learning to delight in the Lord is an incredible, life-changing adventure. It is also a life-long endeavor! Delighting in the Lord requires knowing about Him as well as knowing Him.

God is awesome! His character is so vast that we could spend every moment of the rest of our lives just discovering Him, just learning more about Him. What are some of the ways we can know about God?

We know about Him through His Word. As we read, meditate, and memorize His Word, God will reveal Himself to us. He will show us what He is like, what pleases Him, what brings Him glory. He will reveal His plans and purposes to us. We can delight in Him through His Word.

Look at these verses from Psalm 139:
· Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it. (vs 35)
· And I shall delight in Your commandments, which I love. (vs 47)
· I long for Your salvation, O LORD, and Your law is my delight. (vs 174)

Father,
I want to know You more. I know that I am Your child, but I want to grow in my understanding of You…I want to know You better! Open the eyes of my heart…I want to see You. I turn my heart to You…I treasure Your Word.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
